A computerized system for air pollution and meteorological data acquisition
Bais, A. F., I. C. Ziomas
[abstract] A real-time system (E.D.C.A.S.) used for air-pollution monitoring is presented in this article. The system is designed to collect, analyse, record, display and report the statistical results of the measurements performed in air-pollution monitoring stations, all in user selected units. Meteorological observations are handled by the M.D.C.A.S. version, where a different statistical analysis (especially for the wind measurements) is applied to the collected data. Through the systems software the results can be presented either graphically or tabulated in both daily and monthly basis. Absolute daily extreme values (minimum and maximum) are computed, recorded and reported. Two utility programs (EDITOR and ROSE) use the recorded data for either editing purposes or for the generation of rose diagrams when wind observations are performed as well.
